TuesdayNight’s-Networking & Social Impact

Networking & Social Impact

With a mission to support women in business through networking opportunities, TuesdayNights Los Angeles organizes events for women to connect, grow and learn from one another. Each event brought together by TuesdayNights features an influential Non-profit for attendees to support.  At the TuesdayNights Networking & Social Impact event the featured non-profit was Safe Place for Youth, an organization which prides itself in giving back to homeless children in a powerful and lasting way.

TuesdayNights Los Angeles held their event with a diverse range of industries on May 15, 2018.  The event was generously hosted by the United Talent Agency in Beverly Hills and included five incredible women in business to share their stories on a panel of what social impact means to them and how it has shaped who they are today.

Here are the highlights from the Social Impact Panel:

How has the consumer industry changed?

Marcia spoke about today’s society and how individuals truly care about supporting organizations with a cause, and often hold it up to companies as an expectation to give back.  Similarly, Shivani stated “social impact missions typically align with a company’s model in giving back to the community and it can even have an impact on a company’s profitability.”

On the other hand, Helen shared her views on consumer trends changing because of celebrities who serve as influencers for the causes they are passionate about. She believes because celebrities are becoming much more involved with different movements consumers then become aware of societal issues and get involved as well.

How do you find a balance between product-driven messages for your business and mission driven messages?

Teresa shared, “You need to be able to find an intersection point. You need to find how impact grows into the product or service offered coherently, and you need to be able to find a message that brings the two (product-driven and mission driven) together.

Similarly, Marcia shared, “There are all kinds of things you can do, like volunteer, where you can speak about marketing for your business through the different volunteer opportunities.”

What are some strategies you’ve used to get to the position you are in today?

When asked about their journey on how panelists got to where they are today Liz shared, “Now you can have a career that aligns with philanthropy, do your homework on the vision and be fearless.” Similarly to Liz, each of the women from the panel shared on the importance of finding something you love and care about and becoming involved either through your career or organizations you are involved with.

The Impact

The women on the panel were not only able to succeed professionally but also gave back to society in a significant way.  It appears the key to their success as highlighted in the panel was finding a balance between their products or services and a specific cause or mission they were passionate about.  These women were a true inspiration and made an impact on the attendees of the event stressing the importance of having an impact on society through giving back as working professionals.
