To the girls (and guys) “who just wanna have fun,  join Cyndi Lauper and the True Colors Fund at the Damn Gala for an unforgettable evening! Taking place at the Hollywood Athletic Club on October 9, 2016, the punk carnival themed gala will be hosted by Emmy-award winning personality Carson Kressley, and feature performances by Grey’s Anatomy actress Sara Ramirez, and of course the one and only Cyndi Lauper.

Most importantly, the evening will be an occasion for all participants to support the True Colors Fund, a non-profit organization co-founded by Cyndi Lauper in 2008. All proceeds will go to the organization’s efforts to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth, and to foster a safe space in which they can truly express themselves.

Of the 1.6 million youth experiencing homelessness in America, up to 40% identify as LGBT, a figure that is alarming and disconcerting, considering that LGBT youth makes up only 7% of the total youth population. To raise public awareness about this issue, the True Colors Fund launched the #40toNoneDay earlier this year in April. They will also be holding the 40 to None Summit on October 7-8, along with the Damn Gala, to continue their efforts to address LGBT homelessness across the country. The Summit will include interactive sessions and discussions, action planning breakouts, and networking opportunities.

Everyone should be able, and feel free to show their true colors. As Cyndi Lauper has said, “While great strides have been made in recent years, when people can still be fired in over half the states because they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender… when young people are so bullied and tormented that they feel their only way out of that hell is to end their lives… it’s clear we still have a long, long way to go before we achieve full equality and acceptance in this country.”

Be a part of this great cause and help end LGBT homelessness now by supporting the True Colors Fund! For more information, please visit https://truecolorsfund.org/
